Located in the heart of Halifax's waterfront, there's no better place to immerse yourself in Nova Scotia's rich maritime heritage than the Maritime Museum of the Atlantic.

The Museum is a valuable historical, cultural and educational institution. It is the largest site in Nova Scotia that collects and interprets various elements of Nova Scotia's marine history. Visitors are introduced to the age of steamships, local small craft, the Royal Canadian and Merchant Navies, World War II convoys and The Battle of the Atlantic, the Halifax Explosion of 1917, and Nova Scotia's role in the aftermath of the Titanic disaster.

The Canadian Museum of Immigration at Pier 21 is Canada's Newest National Museum. This National Historic Site at the Halifax Seaport is Canada's largest standing immigration terminal. From 1928 to 1971, almost one million immigrants arrived at this former gateway to Canada. During the Second World War, 368,000 military personnel departed from Pier 21 for service overseas. It is believed that one in five Canadians have a connection to Pier 21. Today, we collect, preserve and share these stories with new generations of Canadians.

Reopened in 2015 following a $30 million expansion and renovation, our new Canadian Immigration Hall reaches beyond the Pier 21 era to examine the larger story of immigration to Canada.
